Inside the Booth with DJ Bozy at Diamond Cabaret St. Louis
At Diamond Cabaret St. Louis, the night runs deep into the early morning, delivering a high-energy after-hours experience with premium food, nonstop music, and elevated entertainment. We sat down with DJ Bozy to talk music, crowd energy, and what it really takes to control the room from behind the booth.
What’s your signature vibe behind the booth at Diamond Cabaret, and how do you set the tone for the night?
My vibe is to try to transcend not just genres but eras, blending the new and the old to create something that brings everyone together.
In a club like Diamond, where energy is everything, how do you read the room and pivot your set in real time?
I tend to look at how people dress and their mannerisms to determine when to shift the tone, whether that means leaning more into rock, R&B, or something else. Those subtleties can be very telling.
What’s one track that never fails to wake the crowd up, no matter the night?
"Shots" – LMFAO (feat. Lil Jon)
What’s the biggest difference between DJing in a high-energy nightlife venue versus a traditional club or bar?
Traditional bars typically stick to a single tone, whether it’s a rock bar or a discotheque. In this environment, we have the freedom to blend all styles, genres, and eras to create something more unique for the guest experience.
How do you balance music for the crowd, the entertainers, and the overall flow of the club all at once?
It’s a delicate balance and takes a bit of finesse. I consider what the entertainers like, what the guests respond to, and a lot of different factors, then trust that I’ve read it right.
What’s been your wildest or most unforgettable night DJing at Diamond Cabaret St. Louis?
We recently had the owner of a very popular sporting event come through. He brought a suitcase full of cash and didn’t hold back. The stage was covered in money over and over again. I even got to shake his hand and take a few requests. Wild night.
Do you build your sets ahead of time, or are you more of a freestyle, in-the-moment DJ?
Definitely in the moment. As people come and go, the music has to follow that same flow. You have to read the room and adapt.
What trends are you seeing right now in nightlife music that people might not expect?
A big shift toward house and EDM remixes of everything from the ’80s to modern music, along with cross-genre covers like country artists doing hip-hop or metal artists covering pop.
How do you personally define a “perfect night” at Diamond from the DJ booth perspective?
A perfect night is seeing people smiling, entertainers showing off their skills, and never having a stage set without guests engaged right in the action.
If someone’s walking into Diamond Cabaret for the first time, what kind of experience are you trying to create for them through music?
I try to give everyone a sense of nostalgia and discovery. Music they already know, mixed with songs they may not have heard but feel familiar to them.
If you haven’t experienced it yet, this is your sign. Step into Diamond Cabaret St. Louis, grab a drink, settle in, and let the music take over. From high-energy hits to late-night grooves, Bozy is mixing it up all the way into the late, late hours.
